The Cycleace stationary bike stood head and shoulders above all challengers. It’s the best exercise bike for tall riders up to 6’5 for the money. Period.

For tall people, you need a commercial-grade bike with extra room for your knees and extra stability for your frame when moving at high speeds.

All the other bells and whistles come after. What’s important is you have ample space, so you don’t have to see an orthopedic surgeon after every 60-minute session.

The Cyclace’s thickened steel, fully adjustable seat, and stable belt drive make it the top fully commercial grade bike on the list, meaning this is the type of bike high-powered membership gyms put on their floors. And it only takes ~20 minutes to put together.

Most other bikes have 6 seat positions. This one has 8. Tall riders can use all that extra space to find the ideal seating position, and a full, natural-feeling stroke without banging the knees or cramping up.

Actually, a few of our “team tall” riders complained there was a bit too much room.

Cyclace Exercise Bike Stationary 330 Lbs Weight Capacity- Indoor Cycling Bike

As a tall person, your exercise bike needs to fit 2 criteria:

  • Adjustable seat and handlebars: You need to be able to adjust both the seat and handlebars to make room for those tree branches average height people call legs.
  • Stable under pressure: Your frame is going to put a ton of pressure on the bike. So it needs a strong flywheel and extra-thick frame to keep steady. Last thing you want to do is snap a bike arm mid workout.

The Cyclace spin bike fits both perfectly according to our testing. If we had to sum it up in one word, it’d be BULLETPROOF.

The extra-thick steel and heavy-duty flywheel provide “aggressive” stabilization which helps keep the bike steady even during intense workouts. One key advantage here is the extra weight pretty much automatically guarantees the optimal pedal stroke, which improves your workout and reduces the chances of injury.

And the 4-way adjustable seat ensures you’ll never feel cramped or feel too much tension on your back after a tough ride.

If we had to complain about anything, it’d be the price (it’s not cheap), and that it can’t accommodate riders over 6’6, you’ll have to skip down to find a better option.

The Cyclace gives you everything you’d get in a real commercial gym bike right at home:

  • Heavy-duty frame made for tall people
  • Plenty of room for your knees
  • LCD screen for tracking time, speed, distance, and calories
  • Great for the whole family
  • Ergonomic seating and handlebars for max comfort
  • 8 seat positions

  • Low weight capacity

Next up is the JOROTO indoor bike, a bike made for pros. This bike is for serious riders over 6’1 who need the absolute best workout in the industry. No other model comes close to the resistance control and workout quality as the JOROTO, at least not for anywhere near this price.

The Cyclace is overall the best bike for tall people in terms of comfort, adjustability, and workout quality combined. But the JOROTO provides the absolute best workout of any bike on the market. Period.

It’s strong and sturdy, and the magnetic resistance keeps your ride smooth throughout. And it comes with 4 adjustment knobs under the front and rear stabilizers, something you don’t normally see on exercise bikes.

It’s nearly as good as the Peloton, except 1/3rd the price and no annoying subscriptions.

Here’s what we loved about it:

  • Get in shape fast: The magnetic resistance gives you greater control over your workout, making it easier to progress than standard resistance. As you get better, gains become more incremental. That’s what the JOROTO is built for. You get all those little in between levels, so you can slowly and smoothly ascend and give your legs and lungs the perfect amount of resistance to keep you on track.
  • Made for apartment living: Whisper quiet is the only word for this. The magnetic resistance and super quiet belt don’t make a sound. Your neighbors won’t hate you (any more than they already do at least). Normally, tall people make a lot of noise because their bikes shake. Not this one.
  • Find the perfect grip: The 4-way adjustable handlebars give you plenty of options for finding the ideal grip. That’ll make it way easier to handle an intense workout without hurting your wrists or elbows.

Now, for what we didn’t like:

  • Medium capacity: 280 pounds is a bit on the light side, and that’s the max. A few of our weight-gifted team members around 250 pounds complained about stability issues. If you’re very tall or heavier than 250 pounds, be warned.
  • Not as comfortable as the Cyclace: JOROTO’s bike is comfortable, but doesn’t have the same ergonomic advantages as the Cyclace. There were a few complaints, but if you’ve got big goals, then you’ve got to deal with the pain to get the gain.

3. The Keiser M3i Indoor Spin Bike Bundle

The Keiser M3i

Find out more on Amazon

User Height: 4’10 – 7’

Inseam: 26 – 39 inches

Weight Capacity: 350 pounds

Assembly: 30 – 60 minutes

Type: Magnetic resistance

Why we love it?

  • Perfect for People of all shapes and sizes
  • Complete kit – floor mat and stretch pads included
  • Simulates road cycling perfectly for an indoor bike
  • Virtually maintenance-free
  • One-of-a-kind V design for maximum flexibility and leg space

Pros

  • Ideal for all riders
  • Corrosion free (no cleaning!)
  • Closest thing to an outdoor bike
  • Maintenance-free
  • Intelligently designed drive, pedals, handlebars, and frame

Cons

  • Price
  • Seat comfort is not ideal

The Keiser M3i is the only bike we know that exceeds all indoor cycling demands. And it’s the only one with a minimalistic design that allows you to mimic an outdoor bike frame, meaning it comfortably accommodates anyone from 4’10 to 7-feet tall.

Since the seat raises up and the handlebars can push back, it attacks tight space from both sides. We had one 6’5 team-member who only needed to adjust the seat halfway up. There were 7 more positions left that he didn’t even need! So yeah, if you’re NBA-level height, get this one.

It’s as close to cycling outdoors as it gets on an indoor cycle.

The Keiser M3i s powerful, stable, and virtually maintenance-free. Everything about the design exudes intelligent engineering. We were jokingly calling it the Audi of indoor cycling bikes.

It’s not super comfortable, and it’s not cheap, but man is it an incredible experience.

The Keiser M3i

Here’s what we loved:

  • Less maintenance, longer life: Magnetic resistance and unique rear flywheel put almost no strain on the bike. And since all that sweat coming off your forehead won’t drip on the rear wheel, it won’t corrode like most other bikes. Normally, when you sweat, it drips into the drive train, which corrodes over time. That’s why manufacturers recommend cleaning your bike every few days to keep the parts free from corrosion. Now, you won’t have to do any of that.
  • Designed for extra space: The V-shaped design creates the most spacious bike possible since you can adjust both the seat and the handlebars, PLUS the V-shape inherently has more space than your standard exercise bike design.
  • Feels like an outdoor bike: The ride feels like an outdoor bike with the strong drive train (Poly V belt!) and outdoor-like cages that ensure the pedals always stay parallel to the ground.

Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic...

Product highlights

In terms of design, this spin bike is similar to the Keiser M3i. The micro-adjustable 13-level belt drive magnetic resistance system delivers a smooth responsive ride ensuring you have an unmatched cardiovascular workout.

You can monitor your average and maximum cadence to meet your training goals as you move through the 13 levels belt drive magnetic resistance system.

Its pedals attached to a solid crank and feel quite sturdy.

Although, on the downside, as compared to the Keiser M3i, the monitor can not be upgraded to connect to apps and you will not find a console or pre-set workouts.

A Buyer’s Guide When Looking for Spin Bikes for Tall People

If you are a tall person who is gifted with long limbs, you would have certainly felt privileged by outgrowing many others in your peer group. Heck, as kids, wasn’t it a matter of pride that you were one of the tallest people among your circle of friends.

However, as we grow up, taller people find it difficult to find clothes, cars and even exercise equipment that will fit in those generous inches comfortably. Many tall people feel they are sidelined by the manufacturers of readymade garments, automobiles, and fitness products.

Nevertheless, there are some fitness manufacturers that do take care of the needs of tall people. In this article we explore some of the best spin bikes for tall people that are available in the market.

best spin bike for tall people

What to look for in the spin bikes for tall people?

One of the most important things to look for a spin bike for a tall person is the inseam length. Inseam length is the length between the crotch to the base of the foot, as shown in the illustration below. This will determine if you can sit comfortably on the bike or if your knees will scrunch up as you complete the spin stroke.

Inseam Length Example

If you know your inseam length, good. If you don’t, this is a good time to measure it. Once you know what your inseam length is, you can compare it with the inseam lengths of the bikes on this list or refer to the table at the start which gives you the inseam lengths of different spin bikes in a quick snapshot.

Or, we have a handy table below that converts your height to inseam length. But please use this table just as an indicator. Two people having the exact same height may have slightly different inseam lengths depending on their relative torso and limb lengths.

Height Range Inseam Length
4′ 7″ to 4′ 9″ 24″ to 26″
4′ 10″ to 5′ 0″ 26″ to 28″
5′ 1″ to 5′ 3″ 27″ to 29″
5′ 4″ to 5′ 6″ 28″ to 30″
5′ 7″ to 5′ 9″ 29″ to 32″
5′ 10″ to 6′ 0″ 31″ to 33″
6′ 1″ to 6′ 3″ 32″ to 35″
6′ 4″ to 6′ 6″ 33″ to 36″
6′ 7″ to 6′ 9″ 35″ to 37″
6′ 10″ to 7′ 0″ 36″ to 39″

How inseam length comes into play when cycling illustration

The second consideration for a spin bike for tall people is its weight capacity. If you are tall and are looking to start spinning, it is likely that you weigh more than the “average person” (whatever an “average person” means!).

You should definitely look at the weight capacity of the spin bike that you are going to buy. You don’t want the bike to be creaking after a few weeks or months use. Or worse, breaking on you, leading to injuries.

Now that we have seen the rejection criteria (inseam length and weight capacity) for the best bikes for tall people, you’d like to look at the selection criteria. When looking for a good spin bike that passes through the first filter of inseam length and weight capacity, you will be looking at things like resistance, programs, control panel features, flywheel weight etc.
