Elon Musk is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and engineer. He was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa.

His mother is Maye Musks; a Canadian model and dietician. She is the oldest woman to ever star in a Covergirl campaign. 

On the other hand, his father is Errol Musk, a wealthy South African engineer. Unfortunately, Elon and Errol have a strained relationship. They have not spoken to each other for a long time. 

The father of 5 is not a fan of his father. He and his first wife, Justine agreed that their children would never be allowed to meet their grandfather Errol.

Elon says his father is good at making life miserable. And according to him, his father was capable of “evil.” He claims his father committed almost every kind of crime imaginable.

He says “He was such a terrible human being. You have no idea. My dad will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil,” he said. “He will plan evil.” His parents later divorced when he was 10.

Musk spent his early childhood with his brother Kimbal and sister Tosca in South Africa. At age 17, in 1989, he moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University. A move he made to avoid mandatory service in the South African military. 

He then obtained Canadian citizenship because he felt it would be easier to obtain American citizenship via that path. He holds 3 citizenships: South African, Canadian, and American.

His adult entrepreneurial journey can be traced back to 1995. He had begun a Ph.D. in applied physics and material sciences at Stanford University. However, he dropped out after two days to pursue an entrepreneurial career.

Thereafter, he co-founded Zip2; a web Software Company. Later on, in 1999, it was acquired by Compaq for $340 million. 

Elon then founded X.com, an online bank. It eventually merged with Confinity in 2000 and later that year became PayPal. Two years later, in October 2002, it was bought by eBay for $1.5 billion.

 Musk founded his third company in May 2002 SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer, and space transport services company. While in 2004 he joined Tesla, Inc., an electric vehicle manufacturer. 

He has gone to create and co-found other companies like Solar City, The Boring Company and Neuralink and OpenAI.

With such business success, he made in Forbes list as the 40th-richest person in the world. His net worth is $22.8 billion.

And in December 2016, he was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People.

Elon Musk Workout & Fitness Routine

So, how does this CEO who work s100 hours a week keep fit? First off, not much is known for his workout routine. However, Musk says he finds time once or twice a week to squeeze in a cardio workout on the treadmill and lift weights.

Elon Musk Diet

For a man that works 80 to 90 hours a week, Musk doesn’t stick to a strict diet. He says he doesn’t normally eat breakfast. Nevertheless, when he does, he eats a Mars bar. Apt for a man who’s trying to get to the red planet. 

On having breakfast he says, “I’m trying to cut down on sweet stuff, and I know I should have an omelet and coffee’’

Lunch is just as inconsequential as breakfast for Musk. Anything his assistant brings him is what he will have for lunch. He reportedly eats — during a meeting — in no more than five minutes.

To redeem himself of his horrible eating, Musk focuses on dinner. He says dinner for him usually happens over business. Hence, he can have a proper meal during these sit-downs. His favorite foods are French cuisine and barbecue.

1) Pursue your passion

Musk says “People should pursue what they’re passionate about. That will make them happier than pretty much anything else.”

2) What is your purpose

Elon says ‘’There have to be reasons that you get up in the morning and you want to live. Why do you want to live? What’s the point? What inspires you? What do you love about the future? If the future does not include being out there among the stars and being a multi-planet species, I find that incredibly depressing.”

3) It takes time

Musk says “If you want to grow a giant redwood, you need to make sure the seeds are ok, nurture the sapling, and work out what might potentially stop it from growing all the way along. Anything that breaks it at any point stops that growth.’’

4) Life is better now

Elon feels life is better now. He says “If anyone thinks they’d rather be in a different part of history, they’re probably not a very good student of history. Life sucked in the old days. People knew very little, and you were likely to die at a young age of some horrible disease. You’d probably have no teeth by now. It would be particularly awful if you were a woman.”

How can you maintain your lifestyle like Elon Musk

Musk’s lifestyle, it is all about work, work, and some more work. He used to work 100 hours per week. But now he is down to 80-90 hours a week. He splits his time between Tesla and SpaceX 50-50. 

To have a lifestyle like Musk multitasking is king. You have to learn to split yourself in between tasks. Additionally, you have to be anal about your time. 

Musk uses a five-minute schedule blocking system. This method breaks up his schedule into five-minute time slots in which he has to accomplish a task. Just like we’ve seen he eats lunch for only 5 minutes.

By adopting, these slots of time you will keep track of your time and get more work done faster. It also eliminates distractions that can interrupt your workflow.

Like Musk do what you love, be passionate about it and importantly trust the process.

Overall, Elon Musk is a role model on how to build successful tech businesses. Unfortunately, he is not to be emulated on living a healthy lifestyle.
