Gwen Stefani is the lead singer for the American rock band ‘No Doubt.’ She founded it together with 3 others in 1986 in Anaheim, California. Some of the band’s most famous songs include Don’t Speak, Just a Girl and Simple Kind of Life. 

Gwen has also been a voice coach on the show ‘The Voice’ and is also a top musician in her own right. Besides, she is a successful businesswoman with a clothing and perfume line and has millions of followers on social media.

At 50 years of age (as of 2019), she has managed to maintain a sculpted and youthful body which means she must be doing something right. At that age, the body is no longer as active which makes it very hard to stay fit. It seems Gwen has found a solution, and her secret is healthy eating and lots of hard work.

When it comes to exercising, this lady does not joke around. She has two personal trainers who lead her in her 5-days a week workouts: Gunnar Peterson and Mike Heatlie.

Gwen does not hit the gym as a ‘girlie girl’ would. She does it hardcore, with strength training and cardio-boxing being an integral part of her workout. She believes that hard work in the gym is the only way to remain sculpted and active and has embraced that in her daily life.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Gwen works on her squats and back. The routine is simple:

  • For the following exercises, do 3 sets of 15 reps each:
  • Dumbbell squat.
  • Dumbbell squat with a twist.
  • Dumbbell row
  • Pull-up: 10 reps.
  • Turkish get-up.
  • Regular crunch.
  • Regular ball crunch.
  • Stability ball crunch.
  • Mountain climbers, jump rope or high knees: 30 seconds.

Finish the routine with 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Lunges and the Upper Body

For these exercises, do 3 sets of 15 reps each unless instructed otherwise.

  • Dumbbell lunge.
  • Dumbbell Lunge with a twist.
  • Skater lunge.
  • Stability ball leg curl.
  • Close-grip bench curl with leg press: 10 reps.
  • Decline triceps extension: 10 reps.
  • Triceps dip: 10 reps.
  • Triceps extension: 10 reps.
  • Medicine ball crunch: 12 reps.
  • Stability ball crunch: 12 reps.
  • Plank.

Finish the routine with 30 minutes of cardio boxing.

Time and time, her trainers may suggest a different workout plan to make sure that she’s working every part of her body properly. Sometimes she will concentrate on one muscle group, but most of the time she prefers total body workouts.

Gwen is also very active in other areas, too. As a family woman, she loves to go for outdoor sports with her three sons. These typically are hiking, skiing, and swimming.

Despite her age, she’s a very active woman and says that she wants to be an inspiration to all the girls in the world. She wants them to know that nothing comes easy, but with hard work and dedication, anything is achievable.

Gwen thinks that diet is her ace in the hole when it comes to maintaining her awesome physique and remaining youthful. In fact, sometimes she takes breaks from intensive workouts to give her body a break. Therefore, her diet is the major player for her health and her looks.

One thing about Gwen Stefani is that she’s a vegetarian. She chose the vegan lifestyle at 12 years of age because she realized that it would allow her to eat without limitations. She also avoids dairy, eggs, and any other foods with animal products in them.

Also, she is not keen on carbs and grains. This is mainly to help her burn fat more efficiently. According to one of her trainers, Mike, avoiding or cycling carbs is very good for cutting. 

Cycling is where you eat more carbs before and just after intense activity, and avoid or cut down on them at all other times. It is not confirmed if Gwen does it, but you should if you wish to reduce your fat levels.

Some of Gwen’s favorite foods are farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. She loves to eat bananas, watermelons, beets, carrots, celery, plums, and anything else that comes straight out of the farm. 

For vitamins, she also takes nuts like almonds and cashews, drinks vitamin water and takes the necessary supplements to replenish her vitamins and minerals.

All refined carbs, processed foods, chemical additives, and sugar are anathema to her. However, she also allows herself a cheat day or two in a week. After all, it’s all about being happy. During those days, she will indulge in pizza or cookies. 

To top it all off, she insists on drinking a lot of water to keep the body youthful and good looking.

Gwen Stefani is all about being free and happy. She strives to achieve everything she desires in the best way possible. Her secret for this is work-life balance. Between all her engagements and responsibilities, she finds time to be happy with her family.

Apart from music and reality shows, Gwen is also a businesswoman. She established a clothing line in 2003 called L.A.M.B which became very successful especially among artists. She says that she draws her inspiration from her favorite songs.

She is herself a fashion icon and an expert at makeup and has done her own makeup for most of her career. She gained those skills before she became famous when she worked at a makeup shop.

Gwen has jumped a lot of hurdles to be where she is. A lot of difficulties including the heartbreak of divorce have marred her life, but she chooses to be happy. 


Gwen Stefani is a wonder in every way. She has stayed on top of things in every conceivable way. Even when No Doubt split (they’re still looking to rename and possibly reform the band), she has remained in the limelight. Her age notwithstanding, she has managed to remain gorgeous with a body to die for.

No doubt, Gwen Stefani is an inspiration. Even if your age seems to be against you, you can always bounce back and keep on top. All you need to do is borrow a few things from her lifestyle.
